ABOUT THE PROGRAMMER
Who I AM

My Dad when I was a child called me Wanesizl over the years my friends shortened it to Wanel. At a young age I started taking things apart to see how they worked. At 13 my Mom's washing machine broke down she called the repairman and he told her what it needed and how much it would cost. We could not afford to get the washer fixed, I asked the repairman to sell me the part's and I would fix the washer myself, He laughed at me. Then repairman said he would give me the parts for free if I could fix it. I got the parts and fixed the washer, I called him told him that it was fixed, He could not believe it so he came out to check what I had done. Surprised that I could replace a timer and a belt for the washer he offered me a job for when I turned 14. I worked there until I graduated high school repairing Major Appliances. By the way when I turned 16 and got my drivers license I was put on the road as a repairman. I had a hard time because customers would not believe I was the repairman. I had gone to air conditioning Trade school Junior and Senior year.
After High School I went to work as a repairman for a air conditioning company and went to college part time for Mechanical Engineering. Going to school part time I wasn't eligible for a Draft deferment, I got my greetings when I turned 19. I immediately went to the Navy recruiter and signed up on the 6 month delayed enlistment program. I came out After bootcamp an E3 due to college, I was sent to Aviation Ordnance school before graduating from school I took the E4 test and passed. I was sent to VA174 where I was assigned to the Weapons verification shop we performed scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the A7 aircraft for the weapons systems, and the weapons systems were integrated with the computerized navigation and weapons delivery. That's when I got interested in computers. I loved working on the system which included Radar, Computer, and Navigation systems. In my spare time, I read every manual on the systems that we had and became the go-to guy for gripes no one else could repair.
After being discharged from the Navy in 1973 I became an Apprentice with the Pipefitters and Air-conditioning union. After graduating from apprentice school I went on to work with Robert Shaw Controls where I worked with the Delta 1 building automation computer systems, following that I went to work at Honeywell Building Services working with Delta 2 building automation computer systems. By this time personal computers began appearing. My first personal computer was a Radio Shack color computer, I took it out of the box and set it up, I turned it on, and on the screen there was a blinking cursor that said ok. I've never let any kind of machine beat me so I got the manual out and started reading, of course my first program was hello world. I started writing m own programs, By this time I had my Contractor's License and was in my own business, My friend and my future computer partner Chris M, who was in his own AC business was interested in computer programming. We started writing Business programs on Wednesday night and Saturdays and eventually started a programming Business CW DATA. We were writing programs in GW Basic, CP/M and Theos Basic. Then Windows came out with Visual Basic, we both started dabbling in it. I decided VB was the way to go and Chris stuck with Theos which was a niche language. As he was selling his bookkeeping and Dispatch program I was porting his customers Database's to Theos compatible. In 1999 I retired from the a/c business and went to work as a Mechanical and HVAC Supervisor at a Local International Airport supervising and working with airport building automation systems Loading bridges, conveyor systems which were controlled by PLCs still working with Chris in my spare time, and writing freeware programs with VB. In 2012 I lost my long time friend Chris to a bicycling accident. After that I lost interest in writing programs, at work I was working with Maximo Database system and became quite proficient with it. I retired completely in 2015 and started working with VB.net at home it wasn't my cup of tea. Then in 2021 I discovered XOJO a language very close to VB-6, to keep active since I am not able to use my hands to repair and build things anymore i started writing programs again, and here we are.
